Where: The Bar Method on Newbury and Darwin’s sandwich shop on Mass Ave
When: Thursday, July 2
Mom finally dragged me to one of her Bar Method classes. I wasn’t completely blown away, but I think it has a lot to do with my sudden re-introduction to spin (and the sore glutes/inner thighs that comes with that reintroduction). I’m willing to give it a second chance.
We started with arm work. I saw everyone grab 2-3 lb. weights, so I did too. I’ve been that girl before – the one that reaches for the 5’s (shout out: soul cycle). I nearly cut my own arms off. Never underestimate the power of 3 lb. weights with a pulsing/concentrated arm work.
Moved on to thigh work, which had us as high on our toes as we possibly could (harder than it sounds). Moved on to glutes, my favorite part. We finished up with abs, my least favorite of all. It was a difficult class, but I didn’t break a sweat. That’s probably why I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. I did walk out with a cool sports bra from Onzie.
After, my mom took me to a hidden gem on Mass Ave (right next to my apartment) (not hidden at all, but I’m not one to pay attention to my surroundings). Had the most unreal turkey, avocado, lettuce, tomato sandwich, coincidentally called “The Mass Ave” and an ____ iced tea. Blank for I-Have-No-Idea-What-Kind-of-Tea-But-it-Was-Good…
